If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences could be severe. A slide toward chaos could trigger the collapse of Iraq’s government and a humanitarian catastrophe... The policies and actions of Iraq’s neighbors greatly affect its stability and prosperity. No country in the region will benefit in the long term from a chaotic Iraq... The United States should immediately launch a new diplomatic offensive to build an international consensus for stability in Iraq and the region... There is no guarantee for success in Iraq... Violence is increasing in scope, complexity, and lethality... Current U.S. policy is not working, as the level of violence in Iraq is rising and the government is not advancing national reconciliation... A majority of the American people are soured on the war...
En consecuencia propongo que pidan perdón públicamente todas las personas que apoyaron la guerra de Irak, políticos de cualquier nivel, personajes públicos, o cualquier persona tenga la posición que tenga, y que además se comprometen a que nunca jamás van a apoyar tropelías semejantes. Asimismo que se propongan medidas para resarcir al pueblo iraquí de su sufrimiento. Es lo menos que podemos hacer por la dignidad humana.
